Cambodia Casinos
There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling den gaming is not allowed. Eight casinos are anchored in a generally small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent location, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few controls constraints for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be largely Thai; although, financial sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are means around this, as is real of many borders.
The first Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only a single gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge casino, features 150 slot machine games and 60 tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of 21, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 slot machine games and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and 68 tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 one armed bandits and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a multinational resort and hotel complex that features many luxuries accompanying the gambling hall, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and 88 tables.
